Steven T. Stanton

Before college, I attended schools in Wood River, East Alton and O’Fallon. As a youth, I labored on my grandfather’s farm North of O’Fallon. I put myself through college with a debate scholarship and several part-time jobs in retail and the food industry.

My undergraduate degree and teacher certification was awarded by Eastern Illinois University, and my Juris Doctorate degree was awarded by University of Illinois College of Law. I led my school’s debate teams to scores of individual and team awards while attending O’Fallon Township High School and Eastern Illinois University.

Between 1984 and 1988, I worked for a law firm that represented creditors, trustees, and creditors’ committees in complex business bankruptcy cases in San Antonio, Texas. Between 1988 and 1990, I worked for the law firm of McRoberts, Sheppard, Wimmer & Stiehl in Belleville, where I worked with Laura K. Grandy, now Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Illinois, and James McRoberts, Jr. the former Chapter 13 Trustee for the Southern District of Illinois. Between 1990 and 1994, I worked with attorney’s Joel Kunin and Steven Wallace at the law firm of Carr, Korein, Tillery, Kunin, Montroy, Glass and Bogard in East St. Louis.  We represented creditors in bankruptcy litigation and an occasional debtor that had complex issues involving valuable assets or business interests.

In 1994, I started my own law firm in Edwardsville with a few clients that I met while working with Mr. Kunin. From 1994 through 1996, my practice evolved from representation of business creditors to representation of individuals that needed help with their debt problems. In 1996, I moved my offices to Pontoon Beach, where I have established a long-standing reputation for honesty and dependability. I give a great deal of personal attention to your particular circumstances at our free initial conference. In my heart, I feel like I am using my teaching skills every day, when I give potential clients a “crash course” on bankruptcy law and its impact on their assets and liabilities. After thirty years, I am still motivated by a strong desire to educate and assist people suffering from financial distress.

Michelle Henline

I have been a part of our team since April 2014.  Before working at the Law Offices of Steven T. Stanton, I work as an optician/office manager for many years.  After leaving the optical profession, I returned to school and graduating from Lewis and Clark Community College with a Paralegal Associate Degree in 2012. After graduation, I worked for a personal injury law firm in Clayton, Missouri.  In addition, I have been a member of the St. Louis Paralegal Association since 2013.

One of my major roles is to work closely with our clients to help aid in gathering all of the necessary documents need to proceed with the fling process.  In addition, I draft and prepare legal documents, assist in preparing bankruptcy petitions, and carefully monitor cases to insure they are proceeding accordingly.

I enjoy my job and find my work very rewarding.

Jaime Klee

I have been a lifelong resident of Granite City, IL and started working for various law firms in 1999. After taking several years off to raise my four children, I am excited to join Mr. Stanton’s team. Some of my duties include greeting clients, answering phones, filing and gathering documents
